When do I need a wooden box versus a crate?
It's all going to depend on your product and your shipping requirements. If you have a piece of machinery with a solid frame, then an open-sided crate
should be able to do the job. On the other hand if your product is fragile, contains many pieces, or is of high value, then you will most likely need a closed-sided box. Can I disassemble or reuse the crates?
If your crate is being assembled with metal banding or screws, the answer is yes, you can disassemble the wooden crate and reassemble it later. While screws also work, over time you maybe lose some life of your crate due to stripped out panels. However even if you do strip your panel, you are still going to be able to use pallet banding without any loss in functionality.
